Since its foundation in 1983 the ENS, has become one of the most renowned Austrian chamber orchestras. The base of the orchestra consists of 15 strings, and depending on the occasion there are various casts of winds added.
The ensemble focuses particularly on the music of the Viennese 18th and 19th century, following the big tradition of Viennese string sound but also collaborates intensely with young composers, which has led to numerous premieres.
The orchestra participates regularly in important Austrian music festivals like the Wiener Musiksommer, musik aktuell, Grafenegger Advent and has been touring almost all of Europe.
Several opera productions, radio, CD and TV recording prove the varied interests and skills of this orchestra.
